Seasonal variation, with all its fascination and beauty, is all around us, every moment of every day, and we are part of this, reflecting the seasons in our activities, our moods, and how we dress. We often take the variety of our own activities for granted, and perhaps only notice the changes in plants and weather as they affect us.

Possibly we thrill to see the first snowdrops as winter wears on, or delight in the fun of autumnal bonfires. But everyday, the plants around us, in our gardens, parks and countryside, are expressing themselves through change and variation. Observing some of these details can enrich our lives whenever we take the time to observe them.

In August, 2010, Lorraine led “Gathering the Self – Finding Your Own Medicine”, a journey of renewal using contemplative science. This was a two day workshop help on the beautiful island of Arran on Drimlabarra Herb Farm, run by Maureen and Keith Robertson.
Another “Gathering the Self” is planned for September 2011. Please see www.veganherbal.com for further details.

Other contemplative workshops may be planned from time to time, and more information may be obtained by contacting Lorraine directly (see contact page).

Lorraine Wood grew up in New Mexico, a land of high desert and mountains, and from an early age developed a deep appreciation of the natural world. She spent over three decades as a professional musician, touring the world and playing concerts. After developing repetitive strain injury, she began to study herbal medicine, eventually retiring from professional musical life, and has been in practice as a herbalist for over a decade.

Since gaining her MSc in Herbal Medicine (2003) at the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine, Lorraine has been particularly interested in using contemplative (Goethean) science as a means of enquiry into the study of plants, as well as a method for developing self-perception and understanding, and has enjoyed leading study days and workshops. After decades in the performing arts, Lorraine has a particular interest in the creative aspects of stress management.
